Panthers Draw Crowds with Fan Fest

August 10, 2009

The 2009 edition of Fan Fest occurred this Saturday, August 8 at Bank of America Stadium, and more than 15,000 fans showed up to watch the Carolina Panthers in action during the 36-play intrasquad scrimmage. Some of the biggest names on Carolina’s roster sat the sidelines during Saturday’s scrimmage (see: Julius Peppers, DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, Steve Smith, Muhsin Muhammad), but the team’s rookies got their chance to shine in front of a captive audience, adding to the excitement of the Fan Fest activities that also included a 5K road race, live music, contests, games and meet-and-greets with players.

While Fan Fest provided entertainment for thousands of Panthers fans over the weekend, it was also an exciting time for some of the players, including rookie defensive end Everette Brown. Brown said he got goosebumps while walking through the tunnel of Bank of America Stadium for the first time Saturday, as, “I haven’t been back to this stadium since I was 14. I just turned 22, so it’s been a while. But this gives me a little taste of what it’s going to be like to play here this season. I can’t wait.”
