Despite a 14-point advantage in the third quarter of yesterday’s game at Bank of America Stadium, the Arizona Cardinals lost their gigantic lead and came crumbling down as Steve Smith led the Carolina Panthers to a 27-23 victory in their Week 8 matchup.
Carolina quarterback Jake Delhomme had a killer day in yesterday’s game, coming out 20-of-28 with 248 yards and two touchdowns. On the other end of this rocket arm was receiver Steve Smith, who caught five passes for 117 yards, as well as DeAngelo Williams, who rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown. Smith made a huge play in the third quarter of yesterday’s game when he caught a pass from Delhomme, just barely staying in bounds when he encountered a brush with the sidelines, bringing the ball 65 yards for a touchdown after breaking two tackles.
Delhomme and the rest of the Carolina offense were too hot for the Cardinals to handle, and despite Arizona quarterback Kurt Warner and his unbelievable 381 total yards the Panthers once again came out victorious, bringing their record to 4-3 while Carolina chalks up another win to the season with a 6-2 record overall.
