Matt Moore Ready for Next Season

Much has been made of the Carolina Panthers’ QB situation.  There are many fans out there who believe that the Panthers should have picked up a reliable backup during this offseason.  However, if you ask Matt Moore, the Panthers made the right decision.  As the presumable backup to Jake Delhomme this season, Matt Moore believes he is more than ready for next year.  And can you blame him?  He’s already started some games in the NFL, and he didn’t look half bad in his starts.  His confidence appears to be legitimate, and he seems ready to be on call for the Panthers.

I’ve wondered more than once in this offseason why the Panthers’ fans have called so vehemently for a better backup.  Matt Moore certainly has his share of question marks, but he has no more than any other backup quarterback would come with.  At the very least, Moore has shown his ability to handle pressure with great aplomb, and he has a maturity beyond his years.  I believe he at least deserves a solid chance from the Panthers’ faithful, given the good job he did when he was thrust into the starter’s role last season.
