John Clayton believes the Carolina Panthers may surprise some people this year. This is no shock to me, as I have been saying all offseason that the Carolina Panthers have made many of the shrewdest moves I’ve seen. They have certainly positioned themselves well for a better 2008 than they had in 2007. I believe that with the return of Jake Delhomme and the addition of some of the new parts brought in during the offseason, the Carolina Panthers will be just fine. In fact, I wouldn’t say it was out of the question for the Panthers to win their division.
Clayton points out something I hadn’t realized and that many Panthers fans will love. The Panthers strength of schedule next season is way down from last year, equating to nearly three more wins just by itself, according to the football professor. This would be great news on its own, but when you couple this fact with everything the Panthers have done in the offseason to improve, you can start to see a lot of possible improvement in the Panthers’ record in the future. Could the Panthers win 10 games? Could they perhaps win more? You’ll have to wait to find out.
