Panthers Sign Undrafted Rebel

May 1, 2008

The Carolina Panthers have signed undrafted Brandon Jenkins - a former Ole Miss defensive lineman - to possibly help bolster their D-Line.  The Panthers picked up a very solid player in Jenkins. While he was not a standout at Ole Miss, he was certainly a contributor, starting 16 games over his college career and being voted Trench Player of the Week for the Runnin’ Rebels more than once.  He has very solid instincts and may be a solid fit for the Panthers.  Of course, it’s difficult to gauge how any player will do in the NFL, especially an undrafted rookie.

The Panthers are now reliant on Jenkins’ work ethic.  If the young man can really motivate himself to get over in the NFL, he could turn out to be a steal for the Carolina Panthers.  The Panthers certainly employ enough current Ole Miss players to make Jenkins feel right at home.  Post-draft signings are always difficult to get a feel for, but Jenkins could legitimately make an impact in the NFL.  Only time will tell if he can truly achieve all of his potential and become a full time professional football player, but right now, Jenkins is a Panther.
