Breaking Down Panthers’ Draft Day Needs (Again)

With the Carolina Panthers entering the final week before the NFL draft, now is the time for everyone to start getting completely geeked out about who the Panthers will be drafting.  The News Observer out of Raleigh has put together a very comprehensive breakdown of the Panthers possible draft picks.  This write-up is very informative and well put together.  If you have any opinion as to what the Panthers should be doing with their picks (and as a fan, you’re required by law to have such an opinion), then you will absolutely love this piece.

Although this write-up seems to agree that the Panthers will have to select some backups at QB and RB, it at least isn’t making the case that the Panthers should mortgage the present to plan for the future.  The Panthers need to take players in the trenches early.  The article at least acknowledges this.  However, it makes the assertion that the Panthers are in rebuilding mode, and I’m not sure I agree.  I believe the Panthers are in a solid position to do some real damage in the NFC next season, so I don’t know where all this rebuilding talk is coming from.
