Clayton tells you what to watch for.

July 24, 2007

ESPN.com’s John Clayton has posted his NFC Stories to Watch for heading into training camp.  He outlines a solid story line or two for each team in the National Football Conference from top to bottom, division by division, until he has made sure that every one of us NFL junkies has plenty to chew on heading into the final weeks of practice before the preseason games finally start.  His story to watch for the Carolina Panthers is their running game.

According to Clayton, it will be the Panthers’ running game, not their pass attack, that will make of break them this year.  That’s interesting, given their offseason moves to retain Steve Smith, jettison Keyshawn Johnson, and drafting Dwayne Jarrett.  However, if Clayton says it, then it basically has to be true, so rather than putting all your focus on your loaded passing attack, Panthers fans, keep an eye on your running game as well.
