The Charlotte Observer is reporting that the Panthers have signed their third round draft pick, 6-2, 270-pound defensive end Charles Johnson. Johnson played for Georgia and was the 83rd pick overall in the draft. Johnson was a big time player for the Bulldogs and is expected to grow and develop within the Panthers’ system. Carolina has now signed three of their eight draft picks. They also released an undrafted rookie free agent they signed. it was a really slow news day for the Panthers.
Is it just me or have the Panthers had a really quiet offseason? Aside from unexpectedly letting go of Keyshawn Johnson and of course the Steve Smith signing, the Panthers haven’t made much news since switching offensive coordinators early in the offseason. This general stability will hopefully lead to stability in the regular season for the Panthers, who really need a good solid showing this year to make up for last season’s major disappointment.
