Caught in the Draft

May 2, 2007

Carolina Panthers let receiver Keyshawn Johnson go not 48 hours after the draft and their selection of new wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett.  How ironic that Johnson would be analyzing the draft over the weekend for ESPN and compared Jarrett, who was number 45 overall, to a younger version of himself. The Panthers also chose Miami, OH receiver Ryne Robinson who may be used as a punt returner in round four.

Panthers’ coach John Fox was quoted, “We appreciated the contribution of Keyshawn in his season with the Panthers.  He brought us high production, but at this time, we are in a situation in which we have a number of young receivers and thought this was the right time to make the decision.”  Johnson should not have a problem getting picked up by a team with his record.  Watch for him this coming season by getting your game day tickets on StubHub.com.
