The Carolina Panthers cut nine players from their roster this week including kicker MacKenzie Hoambrecker, defensive end Kevin Carberry, cornerback DaShane Dennis, receivers Lynzell Jackson, Terrance Metcalf and Daniel Smith, linebacker Corey Jenkins and tackles Albert Toeaina and Quasim Mitchell. None of those cuts were really unexpected but that still leaves the roster at 80 players, which means 5 more cuts will have to be made before tomorrow afternoon.
Hoambbrecker was signed early during training camp when John Kasay was nursing a sore leg, but since his recovery Hoambecker became dead weight. During the Carolina’s recent 19-10 win over Miami Kasay hit field goals from 26, 43, 45 and 53 yards.
